It’s up to us to keep the legacy aLIVE.
Hundreds gathered in the heart of the City of Georgetown South Carolina, lacing up their shoes and preparing to hit the pavement in this year’s Bridge 2 Bridge Run.
Many may know the city for its sandy skies, palm trees, bright “hellos!”, a cool breeze and glistening waters. Others may remember the smell of the fresh seafood at bay day to day. For Latoya Heyward, it’s the legacy her brother Nasim Al-Hakim has left behind.
A hidden gem down in the Lowcountry is the #Bridge2BridgeRun. Directed by Friendship Place Inc. It was there that Latoya’s family and friends traveled from as far as Brooklyn, New York and Atlanta, Georgia to help uplift Nasim’s legacy by walking, or running for a cause.
The Bridge Run was a perfect moment to keep the legacy aLIVE. Nasim is known for being LIVE, impactful and informative, empowering his community in home ownership and economic development. In the video, it was important not to just capture the excitement of the race, but to also capture the spaces in downtown Georgetown where Nasim’s legacy and impact have been felt- such as the Wells Fargo where he worked, and his milemarker #7 sponsored by his organization TWT. The number 7 is also Latoya’s Delta Sigma Theta line number. It all aligns.
It’s always a pleasure to do this work, and I’m happy that I can continue to bring the impact through my love of visual storytelling.
Authentic storytelling is at the heart of what I do.
